Speeches - Education Minister's 2022 Address to the Albany Club

In the spring of 2022, then-Education Minister Stephen Lecce delivered a 15-minute speech to the Albany Club titled: "Modernizing Ontario's Education System to Drive Accountability and Improvement and Create a Competitive Advantage that Will Prepare Students for the Jobs of the Future."

With COVID-19 now in the rear-view mirror, Minister Lecce wanted to highlight some of the government's key accomplishments in the Ministry of Education, and discuss their relevance to maintaining Ontario's economic prosperity. The speech covers a wide range of topics such as teaching students valuable job and life skills, protecting children from bullying and sexual predators, reforming out-of-date hiring practices, investing $14 billion over ten years to build and renovate schools, and putting more money back into the pockets of families.

This speech required a lot of policy input from my colleauges and many back-and-forth consultations with Minister Lecce but I am proud to say that it was well-received by those who attended the event.
